This treasure has reassured me that the process of menapause is natural and one to be honoured by women. The honest steps to take, the teachings of the Wise Woman way, reassures rather than frustrates and fears. This is a book all women (and men) should read to gather strength and information.

In an empowering and demystifying book about menopause, Dr. Susan Love, a noted breast surgeon and women's health advocate, tells it straight about hormones. "Hormone therapy is neither a fountain of youth nor an 'evil empire," Love writes with her coauthor, Karen Lindsey. "I can't tell you in this book whether or not you should take hormones, but I can spell out the pros and cons, examining the various promises that have been made for menopausal hormone therapy, and letting you know what the side effects and dangers can be."

WOMEN AT THE WELL: THE MANY VOICES OF MENOPAUSE
BY MARIELENA ZUNIGA, M.S AND FRANCES SCHWABENLAND, M.ED., M.S..

It is acompilation of 30 stories by women about their personal perimenopausal and menopausal experiences. It allies well with my website's mission of women helping women through sharing, support, and education. There were so many experiences or parts of experiences that I could relate to. These many voices remove the taboos of the subject and reinforce the notion that the symptoms we feel are not all in our heads. It also unfortunately reinforced the too common occurrence of physicians not listening to their patients, poorly informed patients who don't know what or how to ask, and patients not finding the doctors who do listen and work to heal all. This is the main reason why one third of my website for breast cancer deals with menopause. too many doctors are poorly educated and ill-equipped to deal with this facet of our lives--every woman's life. It reinforces the individuality of medical treatments and the need to search for what is right for you. Physicians today seem too broad based in their approaches to women's health issues. This HRT is for everyone, this chemo is for every cancer, antidepressants are the cure all, etc. This refreshing book reminds you that you are the best judge of what is happening to your body and you are never alone in this world. You will find humorous antidotes which many of you will relate to and the overall important message of be kind to yourself and look to the positive whenever possible. This too shall pass. This is a quick read and well worth the time. I applaud Marielena and Frances for their dedication to sisterhood. I greatly respect this generation of women who reach out and proactively support women's wellness issues. It's so nice to know that we are not alone.
